Airbnb apartment renovation in Zografou, Attiki, Greece

In 2021, the architectural firm Sophia Emfietzoglou Architect offered its services to renovate a 38 m2 apartment located in Zografou, with the aim of transforming it into a cozy, contemporary, and practical Airbnb apartment as requested by its owners. 

During this renovation project, our architectural firm handled the architectural design, construction supervision, and interior design, with the goal of fully addressing the challenges posed by the limited space.

The apartment renovation was intelligently configured to maximize the use of every inch of space while preserving the original layout. The architectural design deliberately avoided incorporating vertical lines, except for the boundary space of the bed. This resulted in the creation of a cleverly designed bedroom that is isolated in a rectangle defined by two walls on either side of the bed, each with its own entrance. The unified structure of the apartment is thus interrupted by this bedroom, which adds an interesting element to the design. The modern aesthetic of the interior design, combined with the meticulous minimalist decoration, creates a warm and impressive atmosphere that encourages visitors to enjoy their stay in the Airbnb apartment.

The final element of the renovation is the lighting of the apartment, which is designed so that the aligned spotlights with the vertical surfaces highlight the characteristics of the interior design, underline the advantages of the new layout, and create an impressively welcoming atmosphere. Finally, the choice of neutral gray color for the walls of the bedroom creates the visual sensation of isolation of this specific space from the rest of the apartment, while contributing to the transition towards relaxation by "downgrading” the intensity of the white that dominates the walls of the rest of the apartment.

The lighting of the apartment is the final touch of the renovation, carefully designed to emphasize the interior design features and highlight the advantages of the new layout. The aligned spotlights are positioned to create a welcoming atmosphere that impresses visitors. Additionally, the walls of the bedroom are painted in neutral gray, which isolates the space from the rest of the apartment and creates a calming atmosphere. This color choice also helps in the transition towards relaxation, as it tones down the intensity of the white walls that dominate the rest of the apartment.
