Residence Renovation in Anavryta, Attica (169 m2), Attiki, Greece
2010-2011
Architectural Representation, Design, Construction, Supervision & Decoration
Between 2010 and 2011, the Sophia Emfietzoglou Architect architectural firm took on the task of a 169 m2 residence renovation in Anavryta, Attica. The house, spanning two floors, is situated on the 5th and 6th floors of a building constructed in 1974. Our firm provided a range of services including architectural representation, design, construction supervision, interior design, and decoration to complete the renovation.
A house renovation process involves more than just the technical aspects of architecture, materials, decoration, and restructuring of spaces. It also involves creating a fresh and practical identity that caters to the needs of the inhabitants in their daily lives. Therefore, the design for the renovation took into account the layout of both floors and aimed to enhance the quality of life for those who would reside and enjoy the new features of the residence.
The 5th floor features an open plan living and dining area, a kitchen with a utility dining area, a playroom with an impressive ceiling, a bathroom, a storage room, and a large terrace along with an outdoor balcony area. Moving up to the 6th floor, which is accessible via an internal staircase, you’ll find a bedroom, a children’s room, and a spacious bathroom, in the interior, and two large terraces that are interconnected throughout the floor.
During the residence renovation, we opted for a modern aesthetic for the interior design and decoration. We chose wood as the dominant material for the flooring to "ground” the modern elements of the space, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The white walls serve to accentuate the natural beauty of the wood, making the furniture the centerpiece of the room’s aesthetics. To add interest and character, we incorporated strong cool shades throughout the space, which complement the overall modern design. One standout feature is a built-in bookcase with shelves behind the dining table, designed to hold the owner’s extensive book collection. In the bathroom areas, the gray shades nicely complement the crisp white corian sanitary ware, creating a beautiful blend of minimalist elegance.
We’ve also designed the balconies on both floors with a delicate balance of paved flooring, greenery, and shading elements to create outdoor spaces that offer both privacy and stunning views.
